<p>Chances are that you&#8217;ve probably heard people talk about a raw food diet and how healthy it is for you, but did you ever wonder exactly what it is they&#8217;re talking about?  Perhaps you envisioned raw oysters and beef on your dinner table.  That doesn&#8217;t sound too appealing doesn&#8217;t?</p>
<p>In fact, a raw food diet is simply eating food in its natural unprocessed state.  You probably already are on part of a raw food diet.  If you snack on fruits and vegetables without cooking them, then you&#8217;ve eaten raw food.</p>
<p>Raw food, or unprocessed food is much better for you because the act of processing the food strips it of a lot of its vital nutrients.  You&#8217;ve probably heard that cooking vegetables can leach out a lot of the vitamins and it can also destroy the important food enzymes as well.  Packaged foods, that you find in the grocery store like potato flakes to make mashed potatoes and other foods that have been processed in some way to make an easy package meal not only have little nutritional value, but your body simply isn&#8217;t made to process these foods.</p>
<p>If you think about raw foods as being the natural foods the way that they come from the earth, then it makes sense that these are easier for our bodies to process as these of the foods are great ancestors ate and there really hasn&#8217;t been that many generations since grocery stores, and therefore prepackaged foods, were invented.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.rpmforge.org" target=_self>raw food</a>s are packed full of vitamins, minerals and food enzymes.  These food enzymes are important, although you don&#8217;t hear a lot about them.  One of the things they do is help you digest your food and getting enough enzymes can help your body with the digestion process which takes a lot of energy, and if your body is spending less energy on digestion it will have more energy for you to do the things you like.  Did you ever wonder why you feel so tired after you eat a big meal of cooked foods?  One of the reasons is because food enzymes are destroyed by cooking, so there are no enzymes to help your body digests that big meal you just ate.</p>
<p>People in a raw food diet eat about 75% of their food as raw and whole foods.  This includes fruits, vegetables, sprouts, raw nuts, seaweed and other foods in their natural form.  </p>
<p>Raw foods can be prepared in a couple of ways.  One of the most popular is juicing.  Many people go on a juice fast where all they do is drink the juice of raw organic fruits and vegetables.  Even just drinking fresh juice in the morning can give your health a boost.</p>
<p>Another way that people eat raw foods is to use a food dehydrator.  This takes all the moisture out of the fruits and vegetables so they can be easily stored for long periods of time without going bad.  A food dehydrator uses hot air to dehydrate the food but it keeps the temperature under 116&deg;F so that the vital food enzymes are not destroyed.</p>
<p>Of course, you can simply eat your fruits and vegetables the way nature intended picked straight from the tree.  Nuts can be a great raw food that you eat for snacks as well, but be careful because most of the nuts you find in the grocery store are cooked.  You need to make sure you get raw nuts which you probably will have to buy either online or from a health food store.</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t have to all of a sudden start eating 75% of your foods as raw foods in order to enjoy the health benefits of the raw food diet.  You can gradually increase the amount of raw foods you eat as time goes on and you will notice how much more energy you have and how healthy you feel.  Remember, you are what you eat!</p>

<p>Compulsive overeating is an eating disorder than is characterized by a severe addiction to food. Just like with any other addiction, when you suffer from this disorder, you constantly crave for food even though you do not need to consume all that much.   </p>
<p>Compulsive overeating is often confused with binge eating, which is a similar, but more serious eating disorder. Binge eating is also characterized by uncontrollable acts of overeating.  However, the main difference is that binge eating carries with it a more emotional and psychological impact in comparison. </p>
<p>For example, if you suffer from compulsive overeating, you generally feel joyful after a meal.  You feel that your craving is satisfied although you may have exaggerated the amount that you ate. </p>
<p>On the other hand, if you suffer from binge eating, you do not feel joyful after the meal but a sense of guilt, depression and disgust that you have not been able to control yourself with regards to the portions that you ate. You become overly concerned that your last meal just caused you a few extra pounds and that the extra weight is going to have a severe impact on your body shape.  You start to imagine the worst in how you look.</p>
<p>As depression is largely absent in the case of compulsive eating, it is considered less dangerous than binge eating, since it has a reduced chance of turning into bulimia. However, compulsive eating can gradually turn into a binge eating disorder if you become affected emotionally and psychologically about your body shape and weight. </p>
<p>The causes for both forms of eating disorders are similar, however. Both are emotional or psychological in nature.  Just like smoking, it is not the body that craves the cigarette, but the mind. You may use food as a self-medication to get over your daily problems and this habit quickly turns into an addiction that you cannot get rid of.  Or it may be the case that you have been emotionally abused.  Or that you have just undergone a bad breakup with your partner.</p>
<p>The fact that compulsive overeating can hardly be separated from binge eating at times makes it difficult for doctors to accurately diagnose your condition. For whatever it is, both conditions need to be treated as soon as the first signs appear.  Your eating disorder can escalate to the more serious bulimia if you ignore getting treatment.</p>

<p>Yoga aims to bring together the mind, the body and the spirits. People that practice yoga view that the mind and body are one and that if given the right tools, it can find harmony and find a way to heal. Practicing yoga is then considered to be a form of therapy. Awareness of posture and patterns of movement, flexibility and relaxation are only a few of the things that can be achieved with the practice. To feel fit, be more energetic, be happier and more at peace are only some of the reasons why people choose to practice yoga.</p>
<p>Yoga dates back to thousands of years of practice, consisting of ancient theories, observations and principles about the connection between mind and body that are now proven by modern day medicine. Research has proven that there are a lot of health benefits, whether physiological, psychological or biochemical, that can be obtained through the practice of yoga.</p>
<p>Some of the physiological benefits include a decrease in pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure which in other words would mean that the cardiovascular and respiratory efficiencies increase which can help in the increase of immunity. Bodily functions like gastrointestinal, endocrine and excretory either normalizes or improves which can help in the normalization of weight. Musculoskeletal flexibility and joint range of motion increase which can help in the improvement of posture, dexterity, balance and the integrated functioning of body parts. In essence, gaining all of that can help decrease any pains in the joints or muscles. With the practice of yoga, endurance, energy level and even eye-hand coordination improves. Weight can also normalize.</p>
<p>The psychological benefits of yoga include the increased awareness of somatic and kinesthetic waves, improvement of mood and subjective well-being which subsequently increases social adjustment. With a calmer mind, concentration, memory, attention and learning efficiency can also improve.</p>
<p>The biochemical benefits of yoga are effects of some of the physiological benefits. Levels of glucose, sodium, bad cholesterol and triglycerides decrease while levels of good cholesterol, cholinesterase, ATP, hemoglobin, vitamin C and serum protein increase. These changes are all beneficial for a healthier body.</p>
<p>Apart from all of this, the benefits of yoga have been compared versus that of the benefits of regular exercise. With the slow dynamic and static movements of yoga, there is a lower risk of injury to muscles and ligaments as opposed to regular exercise routines due to the lesser effort and relaxed way of movement which subsequently makes for better energizing since breathing is not taxed. There is also a more balanced activity of opposing muscle groups, thus being able to gain a normalized muscle tone instead of getting bulky.</p>
<p>Yoga does not need to be for people that are extremely flexible. It can be for people that are looking to improve on their flexibility or other areas of their physical or mental health. With these many benefits, its no wonder why yoga has been a successful practice for thousands of years.</p>

<p>Have you started hearing about the <a href="http://www.rpmforge.org" target=_self>raw food</a> Diet? It&#8217;s gaining popularity and buzz, not just as a diet to lose weight, but a diet for a long and healthy life. We eat so much in the way of processed food that we don&#8217;t even stop to think about what we&#8217;re putting into our bodies, and how far we&#8217;ve come nutritionally from our ancestral, agrarian roots.</p>
<p>A raw food diet means consuming food in its natural, unprocessed form. There are several common-sense rationales for why this is a good idea. Processing and cooking food can take so much of the basic nutritional value away. Think of some of the conventional wisdom you&#8217;ve heard about for years, such as: If you cook pasta just to the al dente (or medium) stage, it will have more calories, yes, but it will have more the nutritional value in it than if you cooked it to a well-done stage. Or you probably remember hearing not to peel carrots or potatoes too deeply, because most of the nutrients and values are just under the surface.</p>
<p>The raw food diet means eating unprocessed, uncooked, organic, whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, dried fruits, seaweeds, etc. It means a diet that is at least 75% uncooked! Cooking takes out flavor and nutrition from vegetables and fruits. A raw food diet means eating more the way our ancient ancestors did. Our healthier, more fit ancestors. They cooked very little, and certainly didn&#8217;t cook or process fruits and vegetables. They ate them RAW. Their water wasn&#8217;t from a tap; it was natural, spring water. Maybe they drank some coconut milk on occasion.</p>
<p>Doesn&#8217;t it just make sense that this is how our bodies were meant to eat? It&#8217;s a way of eating that&#8217;s in harmony with the planet and in harmony with our own metabolisms. Our bodies were meant to work, and need to work to be efficient. That means exercise, certainly, but it also means eating natural, raw foods that require more energy to digest them.</p>
<p>Why The Raw Food Diet</p>
<p>Because cooking takes so many nutrients and vitamins OUT of food, you automatically start feeding your body what it needs when you stop cooking food and start eating uncooked, nutrient-rich foods. A raw carrot has exponentially more nutrition than a cooked carrot.</p>
<p>Cooking also alters the chemistry of foods, often making them harder to digest. Why do we have so many digestive problems in this country? Because we&#8217;re putting foods into our bodies in a form that we weren&#8217;t designed to absorb. High fiber, high water content fresh produce abolishes constipation of the bowels, cells and circulatory system. Obstructions are cleared and blood flow increases to each and every cell in the body. Enhanced blood flow is significant for two reasons: as mentioned above, blood delivers nutrients and oxygen to living cells, and carries away their toxic metabolites.</p>
<p>Obesity is endemic in this country. The diet industry is more profitable than the oil companies. Why? Because the way we eat and prepare our food practically guarantees that we&#8217;ll overeat. Psychologists tell us that we overeat because our souls are hungry. But in reality, our bodies are hungry, even though we may feel full. When you start giving your body the nutrients it craves, overeating will cease.</p>
<p>Eating raw foods is a boost to your metabolism as well. It takes a little more energy to digest raw foods, but it&#8217;s a healthy process. Rather than spending energy to rid itself of toxins produced by cooking food, the body uses its energy to feed every cell, sending vitamins, fluids, enzymes and oxygen to make your body the efficient machine it was intended to be.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll naturally stop overeating, because your body and brain will no longer be starving for the nutrients they need. A starving brain will trigger the thoughts that make you overeat. The brain and the rest of your body don&#8217;t need quantity; they need quality.</p>

<p>Are you ready to live a highly successful life, achieve all of your goals, and enjoy the success you know deep down that you really deserve?  If your answer is yes then before you go any further you must answer the following searching question.</p>
<p>Just what is your purpose in life? If you dont have a ready answer, dont be too surprised. Even the greatest of the philosophers who have ever lived succeeded only in making this question more profound. Why? Because the answer lies not in simply knowing what is your purpose in life but lies in discovering what is your goal in life. The last one is only possible if you have already gone through the process of goal setting. </p>
<p>Soul searching is actually personal goal setting in its infancy. The only problem is that for many people that infant never grows up into maturity. The person involved in soul searching might dismiss this process as nothing but being sentimental. Without realizing it, the person has just killed the infant, or his chance to flesh out the course of his purpose driven life.  </p>
<p>But luckily, soul searching is a recurring process. So the next time you have been given the honor of another visit, be mindful. </p>
<p>Personal goal setting is a powerful tool for setting a course for a meaningful and fulfilling life. The process of personal goal setting in itself is powerful enough so that if you are  going through with the process you might think that your lifes meaning or purpose had been found. But it is not. The euphoria is only a result of your self finally realizing that you are on the right track. </p>
<p>For some, the process itself is motivating. Once you have found a way of making this a habit, you will soon realize that achieving your goals that look like impenetrable walls in the past is nothing but a purpose that needs a set of personal goals as the key. </p>
<p>Personal goal setting: what should be set?</p>
<p>Since there is more to life than the four letters that it represents, personal goal setting involves a review of all the aspects of your life, and all of these should have a corresponding goal. But before going to the process of setting up goals, you must have one general goal that encompasses all the other goals. In fact the other and smaller goals should work in the service of this large goal of yours.  </p>
<p>1 Career. What aspect of your career do you think needs an improvement? Or perhaps, ask yourself, is it time for a new career?</p>
<p>2 Outlook or attitude. Is there a part of you, particularly on how you perceive things, that needs to be changed? </p>
<p>3 Financial. Do you have a clear projection as to how much you should be earning in a particular moment in your life? This aspect is closely related with career, so better review and come out with a goal with these two side by side.  </p>
<p>4 Potential development. Perhaps some of your talents and skills need an improvement, or are maybe already clamoring for an improvement. Life, after all, is discovering your potential and developing it in the process. </p>
<p>5  Academic. Perhaps you are no longer getting any mental stimulation lately. Maybe your education related goals have expired many years ago. Perhaps it is time to go back to school for another degree, or engage in some thought provoking activities.  </p>
<p>6 Family. What is your idea of a family? Getting married, having and raising kids? When? How?</p>
<p>7 Social involvement. Perhaps you want to help achieve something that would make the world a better place? Perhaps you are into animal protection, environmental concerns, and human rights issues? </p>
<p>These are just some aspects that generally come to mind when it comes to personal matters. If you feel or think that this list is not enough, or does not fit well with you, you may add or change it. Remember, personal goal setting is what its name is,  a personal task. It is all up to you to device it and make it happen.</p>
